Cousland Village SWRI
Come and join us at “The Rural”
The first institute in Scotland was founded in 1917 at Longniddry, East Lothian.
A few months later in 1918 the Rural was started in Cousland, the second institute in Midlothian.
SWRI is an expanding and progressive organisation, with much to offer women of all ages Educational talks; demonstrations and classes in handicrafts and cookery; drama and choral activities and a varied programme of curling, bowling and Scottish country dancing. There are summer schools covering various topics; this year they are being held in Shetland.
Many of our members have enjoyed holidays organised by the Rural. In the last few years Cousland members have travelled to Iceland, Spain, Finland, Holland.
Cousland SWRI members have also been successful in various shows and competitions recently.

Meeting Times
The rural meetings are held monthly in the village hall at 7.15 pm. Membership £12. Non-members £2 per meeting.
