Cousland Village

Cousland Village Youth Club

Cousland Village Youth Club meets at the Village Hall between 6.30 – 7.45pm on Wednesday’s during Term Time. The cost is £1 per session (extra for tuck shop if desired).

The Youth Club has been running for around 20 years, the last 12 under the watchful eye of Lorraine Chapman and parent and village volunteers. As a voluntary group, all parents are asked to help on the parental rota approximately once a term. Currently Lorraine, Jennifer MacDougall & Graham Napier share the weekly load with parental helpers.

**All leaders and helpers are disclosure checked as suitable to work with children and training is offered including child protection.**

Membership

All children & young people who live in the geographic area in and around Cousland (area designated by our constitution) and who attend school are welcome to come along. We also have existing members who attended Cousland Primary school before its closure who are still members.

We currently have a membership of 49 children & young people. The expansion of village has had an impact upon our membership and we welcome new children from the area. However, we are currently unable to accept new members out-with our area.

Contact Lorraine on 663 7231 or Jennifer 654 2370 for information.

Activities

We have weekly themed activities according to seasons or the children / young people’s interest.

We also organise a Summer party, ‘Halloween’ fancy dress party, Christmas party and trip to the Pantomime each year and in the past two years have had our own ‘International Story Telling Festival’ events.

Cousland Youth Club World Vision Child Sponsorship

Introducing Saly Louerth from Cambodia…….

Just over a year ago the children of Cousland Youth Club sponsored a child through WORLD VISION. Each week a proportion of their club fees go to supporting him and his family in Cambodia. Saly was only 4 years old when we first sponsored him and he did not go to school.

We receive regular reports about Saly and his family and display this information on our notice board at the hall. His most recent report said that he had celebrated his 6th birthday and had completed his first year at school.

We are proud to report that we have helped saly and his family in the last year through……

  • A new school has been built for all children - even the poorest in village.
  • Seeds and water have helped the village to grow their own food.
  • A new well has been built in the village to keep everyone healthy and to help grow food.
  • Saly has been immunised against diseases which can kill children. Adults have been trained in health to help everyone.
